Blog#5 Hot Babe

These ads are not only funny but they do have an underlining message, which is making sure you have the right kind of insurance. Often times we overlook what we should cover in our insurance, because we think that we will never need that coverage, or that that will never happen to us. Insurance companies are known for always pushing to buy extra coverage that we may or may not need. This ad gives an extreme scenario, which I think is intended for parents of teenagers or teens. Since there is a young boy driving an older car, I think it is more towards teens. There are many distractions that can happen while driving, this also includes an attractive person jogging on the side walk. Teenagers are more susceptible to getting distracted while they are driving, teenage boys are also at a higher risk then teenage girls. Which is why they used a male instead of a female, insurance companies also raise the rates of teenage boys then teenage girls.

In todays world our lives revolve around technology. This includes cell phones, laptops, smartwatches, etc.. which leads to distractions. Everyone checks their phone while driving, we all glance at our smart watches while our hands are 10 and 2. This ad is funny because it is a beat up middle aged man pretending to be a hot jogger. The audience knows this but can deduce that crazy things like this happen all the time. This ad wants to make it a point that your cut-rate insurance won't cover something like this, which is making you think about switching to their insurance so you are covered properly, even in the most ridiculous scenarios.

While the ad uses a suburban neighborhood, a teen driving in an older car staring at a "hot babe"  you can come to the conclusion that the design is to target younger drivers. While the teen is driving, the "hot babe" winks at him and smiles, he then crashes into a light post. Then the hot babe states that your cut rate insurance won't be paying for this. Allstate insurance is being promoted by stating they will cover you from mayhem experiences. Even though this is a funny ad, we can conclude that paying for a cheap insurance doesn't always benefit us in the end. That's why you should get Allstate. "Are you in good hands?"

  1. Hi, I agree with your opinion for this ad. It is so smart of you found the specific audiences the ad is for. The audience I wrote for my Allstate Blog entry was "everyone that drives a car". An your interpretation for the belief and the American's culture like teens are more likely experiencing car accidents then others because they just learned how to drive. Of course, many adults could be distract by their phones and other technologies too.

  2. Hey Jennifer, I agree, we as teenagers tend to get distracted more because our attention span doesn't last that long. We rely a lot on technology because it is always in our reach. I really like your interpretation of this ad because it is meant to be funny and want you to make sure you have good insurance for your car.
